network devices for our institute are located at the 2F Center of Computer Service Computer Services
and room 301 of the new IIS Building. They are equipped with a firewall, virtual private Center
network server, file server, domain name server, DHCP server, mail server, web server,
administrative and research systems servers, CA server, attendance system server, and
a monitor and real-time conference recording system server. Every floor is equipped with
a network printer. Scanners and other facilities are available outside room 301 for all staff
members. The newly built machine room is located on the second floor of the new IIS
Building.
In order to promote the full use of resources and information sharing, and to meet
demand for a large number of operations, we provide a private cloud service. This
service is supported by a multi-core processor with a large capacity memory and storage
space that provides applications and automated processes to create virtual hosts for our
research staff.
Regarding information security, we provide a timing vulnerability scanner for our major
servers, in order to maintain system operation and data security. Through our Virtual
Private Network Service, our staff can safely obtain and store data in the work place or
overseas. To enhance the security of our main office, we cooperate with the department of
Information Technology Services to manage security events and inquires.
To assist our research fellows with their research, we aim to computerize all administrative
and research processes, bridging the gap between administrator, assistant and research
fellow. Our services include:
1. Administrative serves
The online system includes: (1) A support system for many types of related issues, such
as telephone and computer support, office environment related support, administrative
online system support, etc. (2) Application for certificate authority, IIS accounts, English
editing service, access to internet and long distance phone, and other computer related
utilities (3) Attendance and security management (4) Space management: Utilization of
laboratory space, reservation and real-time booking information for meeting rooms (5)
Human resources: report and resignation of staff, related personnel information, salary
review and pay, attendance, leave and overtime application and review, reappointment,
daily to do list, announcements, etc. (6) Purchase system: tracking the purchasing
process from start to finish (7) Business trip reporting (8) Accounting system: budget
management (9) Equipment management (10) Machine room and server cabinet
management, distribution of power and IP (11) Systems specifically designed for research
fellows: managing personal web-page, inviting visiting scholars, evaluating assistants,
managing projects, managing research funds and budget control. (12) IT equipment
budget application and review system

a. Conference system:
Functions include online submission, paper review, online registration, credit card
payment and information management, as well as onsite services.
b. Gym reservation system
c. Smart reservation and case application system:
Used by Department of Academic Affairs and Instrument Service which is responsible
for purchasing high value equipment. Our staff can use this system to book and use
equipment. The system also has an assessment function to analyze usage frequency
and profit, which can guide future plans for administering equipment.
d. Publication management system:
This system is used by the IIS, Biodiversity Research Center, Institute of Linguistics and
others. Functions include collecting and submitting papers, review, proofreading and
search.
