Abstract
The Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) is the combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies with the Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure. Edge AI is the implementation of AI models on edge devices. Edge AIoT is the symbiosis of AIoT and Edge AI
technologies, where sensor data is collected and processed using AI models at the edge. Smart Estates can make use of Edge AIoT systems to improve estate maintenance and the living experience of residents. The key challenge is to design an Edge AIoT system that is scalable, distributed and secure. We are developing EstateSense, an Edge AIoT system for smart estates to
address this challenge. EstateSense provides an operational platform to efficiently support sensor deployments and device management. It also provides an experimental Edge AIoT testbed to support algorithm and use case development. We are developing efficient edge-oriented distributed processing algorithms, and suitable AI/ML models to support several
use cases. Finally, we are developing a cybersecurity scheme to protect the edge gateways in the system.
