摘要

The application of transcriptome-base techniques results in the finding of pervasive transcription of eukaryotic genome, and reveals over thousands of non-protein coding transcripts. Many of the non-coding transcripts are over 200bp long, which are named long non-coding RNA or large non-coding RNA (lncRNA). lncRNAs are novel regulators of genome biology and cellular processes, and many involve human diseases.

lncRNAs have many functions including regulation of chromatin structure, control of RNA splicing and gene expression, modulation of protein activity and function, cell-cell signaling, allosteric regulation of proteins ..etc.. These new regulators are encoded by a large portion of the genome and most of their functions are unknown. In this talk, I am going to introduce the recent advance of lncRNA field and  present some of our study.
