TIGP (SNHCC) -- Blockchain Technology and Its Applications

摘要

Fintech is a factor of the fourth industrial revolution that use innovative technology to make financial services more efficient and reliable.Especially, the blockchain technology is considered as a promising candidate within the fintech technologies. A blockchain is a public and decentralized ledger system which records and validate each and every transaction that has ever been executed. It can be coordinated via peer-to-peer (P2P) networks which makes the transaction secure and reliable. In this talk, we will first introduce the history of blockchain by introducing Bitcoin - the decentralized cryptocurrency which uses blockchain as its underlying technology. We will show how it works at a technical level in order to really understand what is special about Bitcoin and blockchain. We will then introduce the potential applications of blockchain. The talk concludes with suggestions for some future researches.

BIO

Dr. Raylin Tso is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, National Chengchi University, Taiwan. He obtained his B.Eng. degree from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, in 1995. He received his M.Eng. and PhD degrees in Systems and Information Engineering from Tsukuba University, Japan, in 2004 and 2006, respectively. He has authored or co‐authored over 60 papers in referred journals and conferences in the area of information security. His research interests are mainly in the areas of cryptography, IoT security, privacy preserving data analysis, and blockchain technology. Raylin Tso has received many academic awards including, IPSJ Digital Courier Award for Young Researcher (2006), Dean’s Award of the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering, University of Tsukuba, Japan (2006), Research Award of College of Science (NCCU) for Early Career Researchers (2015) and Award of WITC 2015 Outstanding Researcher (2015). He is also served as the Executive Editor of Internal Journal of Information and Computer Security (http://www.inderscience.com/jhome.php?jcode=ijics).
