摘要

Quantum computers hold the promise to solve certain computational task much more efficiently than classical computers. I will review the recent experimental advancements towards a quantum computer with trapped Calcium ions and the recent progress in my previous lab. In particular, various implementations of qubits, quantum gates with optical control will be discussed. Furthermore, I will also discuss recent progress in quantum control theory in my recent theoretical work in quantum optics. In this work, we will implement the coherence control with optical feedback in the single photon regime.

BIO

Chien-Yuan Chang will become a postdoctoral researcher in Tarucha Laboratory at University of Tokyo.

C. Y. Chang completed his Ph.D. (Physics) at Georgia Institute of Technology and his undergraduate study (EE) at National Taiwan University. His research focus lies in the area of quantum computation and information processing. He has performed experimental work in AMO, specifically in trapped-ion and quantum optics with a single photon, and nonlinear optics. CYC has contributed to several works in the field of quantum computation from the School of Physics under the supervision of Prof. Kenneth R. Brown and Prof. David S. Citrin. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of physical science, particularly in AMO, solid-state physicist and electrical engineering.
